About Us

Lovers Lane Saint Jo

Lovers Lane is a beautiful winding street immortalized by poet Eugene Field from the poem “Lovers Lane, Saint Jo" and is the site of many fine homes today. Once a remote country lane where Eugene Field courted his future wife, Julia Comstock, in a horse and buggy.  A monument on Lover’s Lane commemorates Eugene Field and is located at the intersection of Northwest Parkway and Lovers Lane.

The Mission of the Lovers lane Association is to Preserve and promote the heritage and history of Lovers Lane St. Jo and encourage a safe, friendly neighborhood community by promoting beautification projects and fostering friendships between neighbors thru newsletters and activities. in addition our Association will maintain the entry signs, banners and primary marker that identifies and interprets Eugene Field’s history and poetry on the Lane, as well as the related landscaping.
